Fluoride

What is this contaminant?

A chemical compound (usually sodium fluoride, fluorosilicic acid, or sodium fluorosilicate) added to public water supplies during treatment to help prevent tooth decay.

  • Where it can come from?

Intentionally added to municipal drinking water during water treatment

  • Possible effects:

While low levels may help protect teeth, excess intake over time can cause dental fluorosis (white spots or streaks on teeth), and some studies suggest potential links to other health concerns when consumed at high levels over long periods

  • How our systems address it:

Our fluoride-reduction systems use activated alumina or bone char filtration to remove up to 97% of fluoride. Available in select under-sink and reverse osmosis systems
